Within the team labeled EA 4136 of the University of Bordeaux and the Federative Research Institute “Network Handicap”, our research activity is centered on the study of the functional, postural and painful consequences of the degenerative processes of the spine lumbar. It was able to develop because of our particular positioning of Medecine and Searcher within the University and the CHU of Bordeaux. Indeed, our position as a rehabilitative clinician who is responsible for the orthopedic and sports medicine unit but also for an anatomist has enabled us to develop fundamental scientific knowledge, because of the patients we met and the links we have with orthopedic surgeons. Which allowed to answer the problems encountered in clinic.
Our approach integrates a study of the anatomy and physiology of the lumbar spine in healthy adults and in various pathological situations (rachialgia, spinal deviations, central neurological diseases). Our aim is to better understand the origin of the disorders observed, to better evaluate their consequences on the limitations of activity and social participation and to develop treatment or compensation techniques.
We have two complementary lines of research in which we will integrate our participation in the acquired knowledge:
- CALM THE DEFICIENCY BY LIMITING THERAPEUTIC AGRESSION
It consists in developing and studying the interest of re-educative and percutaneous techniques in the treatment of lumbosciasis
- REDUCE TRUNK DEFORMATIONS AND THEIR FUNCTIONAL CONSEQUENCES
Consists in developing and studying the interest of rehabilitative techniques and in developing and analyzing the interest of corsets in the management of spinal deformities (scoliosis and campocormie)
